EL PASO COUNTY HORSE BOWL AND HIPPOLOGY TEAMS
Horse Bowl and Hippology are 4-H horse knowledge competitions. Horse Bowl is a quiz bowl contest where the participant answers questions ranging from horse feed to horse care to the history of horses. Hippology has several stages including taking a written test, judging several classes, and solving horse problems as a team. Both are great opportunities to learn more about horses and how to care for them properly.

EL PASO COUNTY HORSE JUDGING TEAM
The El Paso County Horse Judging team learns how to judge a wide variety of horse classes from halter and equitation to riding control and horsemanship. There are many benefits to knowing how to judge a class including helping with your horse showing by allowing the rider to be aware of what the judge is looking for. The participant in horse judging will also learn how to give "reasons" which give them a chance to defend their placing of the class to the judge and teach them how to organize their thoughts. There are weekly practices and several county contests leading up to the state contest in June. The El Paso County Horse Judging Team is taught by County Extension agent, Jonathan Vrabec. For the most current practice schedule and information on horse judging contact Jonathan at jonathanvrabec@elpasoco.com
